Dear Alumni and partners,

the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Regional Office Hanoi, is organising a big regional Alumni Meeting on “Environment & Health. Challenges and Prospects for South-East Asia” in Hanoi in May 2017.

Time and date: 26th – 28th of May 2017
Location: Vietnamese-German-Centre (Trung tâm Việt-Đức), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Trường Đại học Bách Khoa Hà Nội), Dai Co Viet / Tran Dai Nghia street, Hanoi

The rapid economic development in the South-East Asian region over the past few years has come with environmental costs. An increasing air pollution, exploitation of natural resources as well as rising water levels in the ‘Lower Mekong Region’ are only few examples of environmental problems that South-East Asian countries have to cope with. Not only nature is strongly affected by these problems but also public health needs to be considered.
The DAAD sees great potential in its alumni and invites experts from 9 different countries to consider new perspectives and solutions in the sector of “Environment and Health. We expect around 250 Alumni from ASEAN countries.
The following goals should be reached in different workshops and during presentations:

 1. Sharing knowledge and experiences
 2. Creating a platform for the regional scientific exchange
 3. Establishing a regional network of experts in various fields.

Further information can be found in the attached concept note and tentative programme (pdf, 271.52 KB).
