Learning German in Myanmar

© DAAD/Hagenguth

There are several options for learning German in Myanmar, from the Goethe-Institute to the universities.

The Goethe-Institut in Yangon offers German courses for interested students at levels A1 to C2 and further training for young lecturers of the two German departments. It also organises an annual Study-in-Germany Day in Yangon in which the DAAD Hanoi was also involved so far.

German can be studied as a Bachelor’s course at two universities in Myanmar. Both, Yangon University of Foreign Languages and the University of Foreign Languages, Mandalay offer German as an undergraduate subject. They also offer Master courses. The DAAD supported the German department of Yangon University of Foreign Languages with a DAAD lectureship which had to be stopped due to the military coup.
