The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world’s largest funding organization that promotes the international exchange of students, scientists and researchers. As an association of German universities with the headquarter in Bonn, it has a network of branch offices, Information Centres and German Centres for Research and Innovation (DWIH) in more than 60 countries worldwide. The DAAD represents more than 240 German universities and higher education institutions. Around 1.000 employees worldwide are supporting among others the funding of more than 145.000 persons annually.

DAAD Regional Office Hanoi

The DAAD Regional Office in Hanoi is the central point of contact for all questions relating to academic exchange between Germany and the countries of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Information Centre Ho Chi Minh City

In addition to the Hanoi Regional Office, the DAAD has operated an Information Centre in Ho Chi Minh City since 2005. It focuses on marketing activities that promote Germany as an attractive destination for higher education studies and research.

DAAD in Cambodia

In Cambodia the DAAD offers scholarship programmes to support the training of future university lecturers and of academically trained specialists and managers from industry.

More and more German universities are focusing their attention on Myanmar and entering into cooperation agreements, including the University of Cologne, the University of Göttingen and a number of Baden-Württemberg universities.
